Welcome to Montessori Early Education Centre
QUALITY EDUCATION IN A CARING ENVIRONMENT
-
The Centre has been in operation since 1975. Formerly known as the Waverley Montessori School, the Centre moved to Templestowe in January 1987 and moved to its current home on Donvale Reserve in early 1996, enabling the centre to expand.
We are affiliated with Mitcham Primary School where our students can continue their Montessori educational journey, completing Cycle Two and Cycle Three (Years 1 to 6) at that establishment.
We are located in a quiet cul-de-sac, adjacent to a reserve. The centre employs Montessori qualified teachers and meets all Department of Human Services (the government regulatory body) requirements.
The centre has a wonderful indoor / outdoor area with a beautiful sensorial garden and a herb and vegetable patch. All our students are encouraged to take care of both the classroom and outdoor environments.
To provide quality Montessori education in a stimulating, caring environment where children will grow to be true individuals, able to contribute to society and be motivated to bring about a better and more peaceful world.
We offer a cycle of learning for children between the ages of 2 and 6, where they can absorb information from an enriched and prepared environment. By pursuing their individual interests in a Montessori classroom, they gain an early enthusiasm for learning, which is the key to becoming a truly educated person.
Walk into our Montessori rooms and you will see happy and busy children working purposefully. Great care is taken to create a learning environment and a vibrant community which reinforces the child’s independence and natural urge toward self-development and where the child learns to interact socially in a variety of ways. Our children have freedom to move around and explore the classroom, choose their own work and work at their own pace. This encourages the child to work independently and builds self-discipline and concentration.
Montessori Early Education Centre is supported by the Victorian Government.
Our service has been rated by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. Our centre rated overall at EXCEEDING NATIONAL QUALITY STANDARD. This is a fantastic achievement and demonstrates the high quality of education that we deliver at MEEC.
We are a Registered Montessori Centre. We are a member of the Montessori Australia Foundation (MAF) and the Montessori Quality Assurance Programme (MQAP) and have been assessed as meeting the Quality Standards. The MQAP is a supportive and positive means of continuous improvement by which schools and centres strive to ensure quality and best practice.

Screen time for the under 5’s
Screen time for the under 5’s – how much is too much, is it safe and isn’t this the way they learn – are all valid questions from parents raising children in our modern digital age. Children under 5 are curious, busy and wanting to engage with the physical world around them. Complementing these age appropriate characteristics are their rapidly developing cognitive, physical and emotional systems, which many say, develop better without exposure to screens. Optimal development from birth to 5 Maria Montessori believed the period from birth to six as being the most important developmental and learning period in [...]
